Official from the city says they believe the bodies found in the apartment building are those of three missing rappers from Michigan who had been missing for almost two weeks

A spokesperson for the city of Highland Park said that three bodies found Thursday in the Detroit area are likely those of three rappers who have been missing for almost two weeks.

LaKisha Brown, a spokeswoman for Highland Park, said the bodies were found about 6 miles north of Detroit.

The bodies have not been identified by the Michigan State Police, who are in charge of the investigation. They said Thursday night that the victims were found in an empty apartment building in Highland Park.

"As of right now, we don't know who died inside or how they died," Michigan State Police Second District officials wrote on Twitter. "Please remember that all victims have families, and we can't just guess who they are and then change our minds if we were wrong. Once we know for sure what's going on, we'll post an update on Twitter."

State police said that a homicide task force, troopers, and people from their forensic lab were all part of the investigation team at the complex.

State police said Thursday evening that forensic scientists from the state police lab were making their way into the building and starting to collect evidence. "The building is in bad shape and rats have moved in, which is slowing things down."

Armani Kelly, who is 28 years old, Dante Wicker, who is 31 years old, and Montoya Givens, who is also 31, are all friends. On January 21, they were supposed to perform at a club in Detroit, but police say the show was cancelled. Authorities say that their cell phones stopped being used early on January 22.

On January 23, Detroit police said that a car linked to at least one of the three was found in the city of Warren, which is only a few miles from Highland Park.
